Sweet Norah melted my heart from the moment she entered the world. Her parents Sarah and Daniel, along with her big brother Luke are precious people. When I arrived at the hospital to document her birth, Sarah and Daniel were patiently awaiting for sweet Norah to make her appearance. Norah was to be born in the same delivery room as her brother, Luke!
I love how Sarah shares they found out they were expecting Miss Norah:
"We were ready for a second baby and tried for several
months. My husband and I are both teachers, so we decided to take a
couple of months off because the due date would be late July or August
which is a busy time in preparing for the next school year. God has a
sense of humor because after months of no success and trying to “time
it” to fit our schedule, I finally got pregnant and due July 22nd.
On the night of November 13th I decided to take a pregnancy test because
I had a feeling I might be pregnant. So as my husband got our son
ready for bed I took the test and couldn’t believe my eyes. A positive
test after so many negatives! When I walked into my son’s room, Daniel
took one look at my face and said, “You’re pregnant!!” We were so
excited and shocked! It was a special moment, as we said our night
prayers with Luke, being able to thank God for the new baby in my belly.
We called everyone to tell them the news. Both of my grandmother’s said
the same thing, “Oh, I’m so happy for you! I hope the baby is healthy
and I hope it’s a girl!” It seemed like everyone wanted us to have a
girl, but we would have been happy either way"
"When we found out we were having a girl everyone was
very happy, but then came the hard part…deciding on a name. Luke was
pretty adamant on the name “Baby Jesus”. After lots of thought and
discussion we decided to go with a name that has personal meaning to us.
We chose Norah Lynn, after my grandmother, Leanora, and my husband’s
grandfather, Jackie Lynn.
Norah’s birth was a whirlwind of emotions. We were being induced and
knew it was just a waiting game. I was making steady progress, but
still just waiting. Then everything happened so quickly. The doctor
came in and said we had to get her out now. I knew it was serious, but
I’m glad that I didn’t have time to process how serious it actually was.
She was turned the wrong way and had a prolapsed cord around her neck.
It went from waiting, to pushing, to taking her to the nursery so
quickly that I didn’t have time to be worried or scared. Our
pediatrician was on call that night, so I knew Norah was in good hands.
Everything turned out perfect."
Sarah and Daniel-- Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph Norah's Birth! She is so perfect, and I am so happy for you guys. It was my honor to document this time in your lives.
